Our History
S&S Music started from humble beginnings. As a college student,
owner Stephen Gent began a recording studio in his dorm room to
help pay for his education. He would help songwriters get their
ideas recorded.
After Stephen graduated his business had grown so much that he
didn't want to leave town. Within a year he was able to expand the
business to include sound and lighting services. He was asked to
work for the Miss Teen Arkansas Pageant, Henderson State
University, and many others. He also began working for a sound
production company out of Little Rock. Here he was able to work
with large touring rigs.
Stephen was contacted by a church in Katy, TX to apply for a position
as music and media associate. He was offered the position and
moved S&S Music to Texas. While there he was able to work for the
church and run the business at the same time.
Soon there after Stephen moved the S&S Music back to where it got
its start, Arkadelphia, AR. S&S Music officially stepped into the highly
competitive world of retail. The first store was located in the
downtown area of Arkadelphia. It soon grew to carry several lines of
guitars, amps, drums, and keyboards. After a year downtown the
store moved to a brand new shopping center on Pine Street. The
inside of the store was custom designed from the ground up. A
sound proof recording studio was built, a 5:1 surround sound
system was installed, and custom colors were chosen for the walls,
slat walls, and stained concrete floors. The store flourished as
more people discovered that Arkadelphia has it's own music store.
Today S&S Music specializes in custom sound installations for
churches and other businesses. They carry only the best products
and base their core business practices on sound Christian values.
